Afternoon WINTER STORM WARNING Update: 10-15 inches of heavy wet snow. 20 for ridges and 1-81 corridor

The updated weather alert from the National Weather Service issued at 3:30 this afternnon.

A WINTER STORM WARNING remains in effect from 6 p.m this evening to midnight Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Snow, heavy in weight and amount is expected with accumulations of 10 to 15 inches, and up to 20 inches along the ridges and the I-81 corridor.

Rain will mix with snow this afternoon and change to all snow by early this evening. Snow will continue tonight through Wednesday and taper off Wednesday evening. Snowfall is expected to be heavy overnight through much of the day Wednesday.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s tonight and lower 30s Wednesday.

 Winds out of the northeast at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

The heavy wet snow and gusty winds could lead to power outages with difficult driving conditions.
