Clarke, Warren Boards Pass Resolutions to Dissolve Shenandoah Farms Fire Department

Posted: June 18, 2013

BERRYVILLE -- The boards of supervisors for Clarke and Warren counties passed resolutions this afternoon to dissolve and terminate the Shenandoah Farms Volunteer Fire Department.

The boards passed the resolutions in separate closed sessions -- Clarke at its regular Board of Supervisors meeting in Berryville and Warren in a special Board of Supervisors meeting in Front Royal.

A judge needs to sign the resolution. Clarke County Sheriff Tony Roper is securing the property.

Warren County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will take possession of the station and its assests and will assume responsibility for fire and rescue for calls in Warren and Clarke counties.

The station is located near the Warren-Clarke line along Route 638 about four miles from U.S. 50 in Clarke County.

No reason was given by either board for the move.

See Wednesday's Winchester Star for full details.
