WINCHESTER — Valley Health has today announced it is forming a “strategic alliance” with INOVA Health System.

“Citing both health care providers’ desire to succeed in a dynamic, changing environment the two health systems have identified several areas of strategic collaboration including clinical research, information technology, population health and clinical service delivery,” a news release from both systems states.

The release states that both the Valley Health Board of Trustees and the INOVA Health System Foundation Board have approved the collaboration.

As part of the plan, Valley Health will implement electronic medical records software, and there will be “clinical integration” in the areas of “cardiovascular services, neurosciences, orthopedics, cancer care, trauma, women’s and infants and other services as agreed; and collaborating on research projects and clinical trials,” according to the release.

Both health systems “willl remain separate and independently governed,” and will not have representation on the other’s board, according to the release.

It says the alliance isn’t expected to impact jobs at either system.
