Area brief: SVCA girls advance to VACA final

STUARTS DRAFT — The Shenandoah Valley Christian Academy girls’ basketball team rolled to a 51-25 win over Westover Christian in the VACA state semifinals at Ridgeview Christian Friday evening.

The Patriots (18-7) led 10-2 after the first quarter and took a 13-point lead into halftime before pulling away in the second half.

Hannah McGann led the way with 14 points and seven steals, Samantha Yarnall added 12 points and Grace Snyder chipped in with 10 points and five steals.

Alex Yarnall grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds for SVCA, who withstood a game-high 20 points from the Bulldogs’ Leah Clayton.

The Patriots will next face Stuart Hall, who they defeated 49-33 in the VACA North Region finals on Feb. 22, in the state finals today at 2:30 p.m. at Ridgeview Christian.
