Eleven-year-old Jaclyn Matchett (left) and Lauren Woodard, 10, both of Girl Scout Troop 40718, put the finishing touches on their troop’s display about Ireland on Sunday at Millbrook High School. They, along with about 250 Girl Scouts, Brownies and Daisies from service unit 1415 of the Nation’s Capital Girl Scout District, were participating in World Thinking Day. Each troop learned about a country and presented their findings to others at the event. Some also made food from the countries they were studying. These girls made potato soup. Rebecca Baughman (left), 8, and Kiara Hill, 7, both of Brownie Troop 40254, put together their troop’s display on Belize for World Thinking Day. Scouts received “passports” at the event and could write down how many countries they visited while there. (Photo by Ginger Perry/The Winchester Star)
