Circa Blue

Winchester — The Bluemont Concert Series presents Circa Blue at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the fifth of nine concerts on the lawn of the Old Court House Civil War Museum in Winchester.

Concert-goers are to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit.

Admission is $5 per person, $4 for Bluemont friends and seniors, $2 for kids under 12.

As at all Bluemont concerts, no pets, alcohol or smoking are allowed. In case of bad weather, the concerts are held indoors at the Winchester First Presbyterian Church.

Circa Blue is not only the band name, but also the description of what the band represents.

They are “about” bluegrass — not completely traditional, not completely newgrass.

They strive to be unique and entertaining to all audiences, so everyone will discover something they enjoy.

Circa Blue is known for its tight vocal harmonies, clean instrumentation, and creative arrangements. The band released its debut CD, recorded at Echoes Recording Studio, in February 2012. The self-titled album features five original tunes and five covers performed with the Circa Blue style.

The band includes Steve Harris on guitar, Dave Harris on upright bass, Matt Hickman on banjo, and Ron Webb on mandolin.

Bluemont relies on more than 1,200 volunteers each summer to ensure that performances go smoothly, and on the support of local businesses and community organizations.
