Two men charged in connection with Berryville Town Council member Gail Smith's July 2009 homicide
BERRYVILLE — The brother of slain Berryville Town Council member Gail Smith and a Farmville man have been arrested and charged with her murder.
Timothy Smith Jr., 53, of Burkeville and Tony M. Sharpe, 26, of Farmville were indicted Thursday for capital murder, conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the July 2009 homicide of Gail Smith, Berryville Police Chief W. Neal White announced at a Friday press conference.
Both men are being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville.
Gail Smith was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in her Pickett Court home on July 30, 2009.

Smith and Sharpe are scheduled to appear in Clarke County Circuit Court on April 15.
White said the investigation remains very active.
