WINCHESTER — A Centreville man was arrested early Monday after allegedly participating in a large fight in the city and then being uncooperative with officers.

Norman Daniel Dixon, 54, is charged with being drunk in public and resisting arrest.

According to Lauren Cummings, Winchester Police Department spokeswoman, officers were called around 12:30 a.m. to the 400 block of West Lane on the city’s north side for an active fight involving a knife.

When they arrived, police observed several individuals screaming and being disorderly in the area.

They also saw a man lying on the ground who appeared to be injured, Cummings said.

The victim — a 31-year-old Winchester man — refused medical treatment.

During the fight, someone from a nearby residence came out and brandished a knife, but did not appear to use it, according to Cummings.

Dixon, one of the many people involved in the fight when police rolled up, continued to act disorderly and was “extremely” uncooperative with officers.

He was arrested and taken to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center, where he was later released.

Cummings said no one else in the incident was charged, but that someone could have sought criminal charges on their own.
