Chamber sponsors business expo
winchester — The Top of Virginia Regional Chamber’s annual Regional Business Expo is designed to help businesses’ fiscal and physical fitness.
Dozens of vendors have signed up for the annual event, scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. May 23 in Shenandoah University’s Brandt Student Center, said Tony Baker, the chamber’s marketing and communications director.
Local products and services will be promoted at the business-to-business expo, but the general public is also invited.
“We used to just promote it more to our members and to businesses in general, and try to get businesses to come visit the expo, but we’ve heard from the vendors that they want to see more people through the door,” Baker said.
A wide variety of businesses will be represented, he said, noting that banks, a paintball company and printing firms had attended in past years.
Admission to the expo is free, but tickets to a speaker’s lunch from 11:30 to 1 p.m. cost $20, Baker said.
Speaker Jeff Jeran, director of Valley Health Wellness and Fitness Center, will present “Employee Wellness and Your Bottom Line.”
“I’m going to present a case study from what we’ve done here at Valley Health with our employee wellness program,” he said, “ [and] share some of the return on the investment that we saw.”
Jeran said he would discuss some businesses’ efforts to improve workers’ health, which could mean paying all or part of gym membership fees, having on-site workout facilities or even bringing in a massage therapist.
He said happy, satisfied employees, and happy, satisfied customers “usually go hand in hand.”
Booths cost $300 for chamber members and $500 for non-members; the latter will be encouraged to become members. To request a booth, call the chamber at 540-662-4118. For additional information, visit www.regionalchamber.biz.
