This building at 228-232 E. Piccadilly St. is wanted by the city to be demolished to make way for its project to realign the National Avenue-East Lane-Piccadilly Street area, but a deal has not been reached with owner Piccadilly & East LLC. City Council is slated to hold a first reading Tuesday night on an ordinance that would authorize legal action to take the property via eminent domain. The property is the only one of 11 needed for the project the city hasn’t acquired or doesn’t have a contract on. The project’s goal is to improve safety and the aesthetics of a key entrance to Old Town, and City Council voted at a work session Tuesday to include a roundabout at the East Lane intersection as part of the design.
