WINCHESTER — Six years after Winchester Circuit Court dropped several child pornography and sexual indecency charges against him, a city man has been re-indicted.

Hugo Sandoval, 37, was indicted Tuesday for 10 counts of producing and distributing child pornography, nine counts of taking indecent liberties with a child, two counts of indecent liberties and three counts of conspiring to produce and distribute child pornography.

Sandoval already is serving an 11-year sentence for sexual battery of minors and carnal knowledge, for which he was sentenced in April 2004.

He was previously indicted separately in April 2005 on 10 counts of producing and distributing child pornography, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor, one count of conspiring to produce and distribute child pornography and one count of conspiring to take indecent liberties with a child.

But those charges were dropped in March 2006 pending an appeal from Sandoval’s wife — Helen Mason — according to a previous Winchester Star article.

Mason, 48, also was convicted of sexual crimes.

In June 2005, she was sentenced to serve 10 years in jail for indecent liberties and producing obscene materials.

During her trial, evidence was presented of she and Sandoval holding conversations of a sexual nature while he was incarcerated at the Regional Jail. The conversations included Sandoval asking Mason to take explicit pictures of herself and a juvenile family member, according to a past article.

Shortly after Mason’s trial, Winchester police said they found more sexually explicit photos and items in her former home on Jackson Street.
