WINCHESTER — City police are still investigating a June 25 fight that allegedly led to a man being struck in the head with a bottle.

Officers responded at about 1 a.m. to the 1000 block of Woodstock Lane, where the victim reported he was assaulted by four or five people, according to a search warrant filed Monday in Winchester Circuit Court.

“[He] advised the individuals walked into his apartment and began to assault him,” the warrant states. “[He] advised one of the individuals struck him in the head with a bottle.”

The victim allegedly had a cut on his head and was bleeding, so he was taken to Winchester Medical Center, the warrant states.

Officers spoke with the victim’s roommates, who corroborated his story, according to the warrant.

One of them also said he believed one of the individuals who assaulted the victim was the victim’s ex-girlfriend.

“A neighbor...advised she heard individuals yelling and observed a stocky black male with dreadlocks wearing a black shirt and jean shorts, a black female, a white female and two white males come out of the apartment and flee in a vehicle prior to officers arriving,” the warrant states.

A little more than two hours later, one of the men matching her description arrived at Winchester Medical Center with a laceration to his eye, according to the warrant.

He was identified by police and denied being in a fight, allegedly stating that he fell.

The search warrant, which was filed for the man’s phone, states that the phone could have information within it identifying who the man was with before and after the fight.

Winchester Police Department spokeswoman Lauren Cummings said Tuesday that there have not yet been any arrests in the case, which remains under investigation.
