Membership show

The Shenandoah Arts Council, 811 S. Loudoun St., will display its annual fall membership show today to Sept. 28. Admission is free and open to the public.

A free artist reception and celebration of the council’s 35th anniversary will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11.

‘Wide Open Spaces’

Duvall Designs Gallery, 2053 Millwood Road, Millwood, opens its September feature exhibit, “Wide Open Spaces,” Friday featuring painter Donna Clark. A free artist reception and celebration of the gallery’s first anniversary will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 7.

The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Friday to Sunday and weekdays by appointment.

Music in the Park

Berryville Main Street will present Music in the Park featuring “Phineas Rolls — Blues, Classic Rock.” The free concert will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Park, Berryville. Bring the family and a picnic.

‘Becoming Patsy Cline’

“Becoming Patsy Cline,” the new exhibit at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., opens Friday and runs through Feb. 2.

The exhibit tells the story of Winchester native Virginia “Ginny” Patterson Hensley before she became famous.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and youth ages 13 to 18, and free for members and children 12 and under.

Yard sale

The Shenandoah Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 500 Lanny Drive, Winchester.

A mini-concert, featuring barbershop music, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Call 540-667-8921.

Game night

Wesley United Methodist Church, 527 Van Fossen St., Winchester, will hold a game night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the church.

Comedy Night, Dirty Bourbon River Show

Bright Box Theater, 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester, will have two performances Saturday.

A comedy night featuring Carole Montgomery and Mark Matusof will be held at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

The Dirty Bourbon River Show performs at 10 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Fall festival/yard party

The 35th annual fall festival/yard party at White Hall Church on Apple Pie Ridge will be held Saturday. Food sales, a silent auction, and theme baskets will begin at 3:30 p.m. The live auction starts at 6 p.m.

Ice cream social

Bethel United Methodist Church, 125 Muse Road, Gore, will have an ice cream social from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Bring a lawn chair. A freewill donation will be taken. Contact 540-667-8605.

Yard, bake sale

A yard and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Gore Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

Food and drinks will be available; tables are $10 for one and $5 for each additional table.

Boots, Beer, and BBQ

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., will hold Boots, Beer, and BBQ from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the opening of the exhibit about Patsy Cline.

Cost for members is $40 or $75 per couple, and all others are $45 or $85 per couple.

Rubbermaid sale

The United Way Rubbermaid Commercial Product Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday on the Belk parking lot at Apple Blossom Mall. This month’s sale benefits Boys and Girls Club.

The products available are returned goods, discontinued products, and slightly damaged items.

Sky Meadows 30-year celebration

Sky Meadows State Park celebrates its 30th birthday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday with wine tasting, cupcakes, live music by Madeline MacNeil, and activities that highlight the park.

Auditions

Apple Creative Theater will have auditions for Disney’s “Aladdin, Jr.” for ages 11-18 at 4 p.m. Sunday and at 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul’s-on-the-Hill Community Room, 1527 Senseny Road, Winchester.

Callbacks will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Big Band Sunday

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., will hold Big Band Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Yesterday Swing Orchestra will play from 1 to 3 p.m. The Museum Store will host a book sale and signing with Douglas Gomery, author of “Patsy Cline: The Making of an Icon,” and guest curator of the new “Becoming Patsy Cline” exhibit during the event.

Patsy Cline Day

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St., will host Patsy Cline Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday with free admission due to exhibition underwriter Grove’s Winchester Harley-Davidson.

Exhibits and free children’s activities will be offered. Bryan Shepherd and his band will play country classics and original music from 1 to 3 p.m.

Library closing

All three branches of Handley Regional Library will be closed Monday for Labor Day.

This includes the Bowman Library in Stephens City, Clarke County Library in Berryville, and Handley Library in Winchester.

All branches will resume normal operating schedules at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Film screening
