Sally Stryker, treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Old Town. brings a donation of a can of cut green beans to the table at the club meeting display of the product. Members decided to supply one item each month to the Salvation Army Shelter Kitchen and collect the designated unit at semi-monthly meetings. Winchester Rotary

Tammy Stevenson of the Frederick County Rotary Club will speak to the Rotary Club of Winchester about membership recruitment at noon Thursday at the Travelodge in Winchester.

Winchester Frederick Clarke Republican Women

Virginia Sen. Mark Obenshain and Del. Rob Bell, R-Charlottesville, will address the Winchester Frederick Clarke Republican Women’s Club at 11:30 a.m. March 6 at the Holiday Inn, 333 Front Royal Pike, Winchester.

Both men are Republican candidates for state attorney general and are campaigning for constitutionally limited government, individual liberty and reduction in crime.

Embroiderers Guild

The Winchester Chapter of Embroiderers Guild of America will meet at 1 p.m. March 7 in the Activities Room at Westminster-Canterbury.

Women’s Civic League

Alpha Rho

Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority will meet at 7 p.m. March 12 in the library of Millbrook High School.

The program will include packing board books for newborns at Winchester Medical Center.

Alpha Omega

The Alpha Omega chapter, 2060, ESA International, will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Courtyard by Marriott.

The program will be a discussion on the book “These High Green Hills” by Jan Karon.

Members are asked to bring cash donations for the American Red Cross.

The March social will be attending the matinee at Wayside Theatre March 9, followed by dinner at Perkins Restaurant.

The Virginia State Council will meet in Richmond March 16. The state will host the International convention in Norfolk July 14-20. Seven members of Alpha Omega will attend the state meeting: Laura Button-Cain, Joan Dodson, Nan Keckley, Barbara Moss, Charlotte Notzelman, Jane Parrish and Betty Smith.

Winchester Retired Teachers

Korean War Veterans

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jim Barnett Park at the site of the Korean War Memorial that will be dedicated July 20. The ceremony is open to the public.

Blue Ridge Singles

Blue Ridge Singles will show the movie “Gifted Hands,” based on a true story, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester.

Winchester Model Railroad

The Winchester Model Railroad Club will have an free open house from 9:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. March 9 at 430 N. Cameron St., Winchester.

The club has 13 scale miles of track on a multi-level layout.
