Belk charity sale
Belk’s Spring Charity Sale will be held from 6 to 10 a.m. today.
It provides an opportunity for customers to support local charities with discounts of 20 to 70 percent off purchases made during the four-hour event.
In return for purchasing a $5 ticket, customers receive discounts on merchandise and other items throughout the store. They also are provided a $5 credit on charity sale purchases, offsetting the cost of the ticket.
ARC volunteer training
The Arc/NSV will have a training for Positive Behavioral Supports (presented by PEATC) from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 13 in the Grace Lutheran Church Outreach Center at 26 W. Boscawen St. in Winchester.
Overuse of Anti-psychotics and Other Psychiatric Medicines to Address Challenging Behavior (an Internet seminar provided by REACH) will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on May 16 at NW Works (3085 Shawnee Drive in Winchester).
Belle Grove Plantation
Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown needs volunteers for its “Of Ale and History Beer Festival” — from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 2 to 6 p.m. on May 10.

Flea market vendors
Stephens City United Methodist Church will hold its annual flea market on May 17.
Spaces can be rented for $10 each. Vendors must register by May 14.

The Winchester Medical Center’s Auxiliary Attic, will have cash-only rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 16-17 at 381 Millwood Ave. in Winchester.
Clothing will cost $1; housewares will be discounted.
Frederick County Recycling
Frederick County Recycling is selling rain barrels in the County Administration Building at 107 N. Kent St. in Winchester.
Each 55-gallon recycled-content plastic barrel has hardware and setup instructions. The cost is $55, payable by check or cash.
Free The Girls
The Uniform Store at 10 Weems Lane in Winchester, is working with Free The Girls and is a drop-off location for gently used bras of all sizes and styles.
FTG works with safe houses around the world that rescue women from sex trafficking and provide rehabilitation services.
Donations may be dropped off during store hours — Mondays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.
American Cancer Society

Frederick County’s recycling initiative “Save-a-Sole” collects shoes, heels, handbags, belts, hats, luggage, backpacks and bags in any condition for recycling.
The items are shipped to West Africa.
Collection drop-off points are at county citizens’ convenience sites (except Gainesboro and Star Tannery), the Regional Landfill and the Frederick County Animal Shelter.

Help for veterans
Military veterans living with a hearing or speech loss are automatically eligible for telecommunications equipment through Virginia’s Technology Assistance Program.
Those eligible include veterans with hearing or speech loss and proof of an honorable discharge; veterans with a hearing or speech loss and documentation of a service-related disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs; a surviving spouse or child of a veteran who was killed in the line of duty and has a hearing or speech loss; or an active member of the Virginia National Guard who has completed the required initial active-duty service.
