Linda Butler, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Old Town, delivers a can of chicken soup to a meeting as part of the monthly drive of the organization to supply needed items to the Salvation Army Shelter Food Kitchen. Each month a different needed item is selected by the membership and Salvation Army staff.
Ashley Knight (left) and Amy Costello won first place at club level and second place at area speech contest of the Winchester Toastmasters. They will compete at the division level Oct. 20 at Mount St. Mary’s Conference Center in Frederick, Md.



AMVETS will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Butcher Block Buffet, 131 Town Run Lane, Stephens City. Membership is open to all military. Call 540-336-1494.
