‘Educate yourself, find support, keep your faith’
Jerri Lippert’s advice for surviving breast cancer treatment:
Read all you can about breast cancer so you are aware of your treatment options.
Don’t be afraid to ask for second opinions. “I didn’t,” she said. “But I know some people who did and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Find a support group. Make sure those in your personal support group of friends and family are there to support you. “If you call them and all of a sudden they’re telling you their problems, you don’t want that.”
Don’t lose touch with your spiritual/religious beliefs. “Keep God close,” Lippert said. “I don’t think I could have gotten through it without prayer.”
