Farmers markets open for winter
The following local farmers markets are open during the winter months.
Apple Tree Market, 2454 Northwestern Pike, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
The market offers local apples, winter squash, Rinker’s cider, local eggs, dairy products, country ham, honey, homemade fudge, bake goods, jams and jellies, Greenberry’s coffee and local beef.

Freight Station Farmers Market, 315 W. Boscawen St. in Winchester, Freight Station Farmers Market, 315 W. Boscawen St., Winchester, is open with fresh, local produce. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Vendors are picking kale, collards, and other greens. There is a selection of apples, winter squash, cabbage, and root vegetables.
Other products are grass-fed beef, goat cheese, honey, eggs, artisan soaps, unpasteurized apple cider, fruit juices, preserves, baked goods, and popcorn.
The market sells wild-caught Alaskan fish from commercial fishermen in Alaska.
Participating producers include Mayfair Farm, Stoney Lane Farm, Shepherds Whey Creamery, LizSoaps, and other occasional vendors.
