Farmers markets selling variety of fall products

Winchester — These local farmers markets are open for the season.:

Apple Tree Market, 2454 Northwestern Pike (U.S. 50), is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The market offers mums, hanging fall baskets, fall planters, gourds, corn wreaths, corn stalks, pumpkins, apples, seasonal fruits and vegetables, Trickling Springs dairy products, local eggs, local beef, sausage, country ham, honey, home-made fudge, baked goods, seasonal candies, jams and jellies, pickles and relishes, Greenberry’s coffee and Oliver’s Acres Family Farm goat milk soaps and body butters.

Clarke County Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays at the town parking lot off Church Street in Berryville.

The market features fresh and locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs, specialty baked goods, cut flowers, herbs, plants, prepared foods and items from local artisans.

Vendors include Audley Farm, Bonadele, Boyd’s Nest Restaurant, Burwell-Morgan Mill, Chilly Hollow Farm, Fresh Flours, GJ Cooks, Geo’s Joy, Grafton Integrated Health Network, Life More Abundant Ranch, Mackintosh Fruit Farm, Peace of Cake, SHF Creations, Shallow Brook Farm, Smith Meadows Farm, Tadpole Acres’ Gardens and Twisted Oak Flower Farm.


Cline’s Farm Market, 920 Hopewell Road, Clear Brook, is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The market has peaches, corn and more. Call 540-662-5684.

Freight Station Farmers Market, 315 W. Boscawen St., Winchester, is a producer-only market. The hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Peaches, blackberries, watermelons, cantaloupes, tomatoes, beans, peppers, squash, pears, sweet corn, cut flowers, and other local produce are available. Bulk purchases for canning or preserving can be ordered by contacting the appropriate vendor. Plants, goat cheese, beef, pork, lamb, Alaskan fish, eggs, preserves, honey, apple cider and fruit juices are among the specialty offerings at the market.

Mayfair Farm, Masters Touch, Stony Lane Farm, Merrymoon Farm, and Shepherds Whey Creamery are at the market weekly. Nutritious Mom features gluten-free, organic snacks and salads Fridays. Artisan soaps by LizSoaps are available the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Special products offered at the market on Saturday will include Dr. B’s Microbrewed Tea and Ginger Delights.

Linda’s Mercantile, 2502 North Frederick Pike (U.S. 522), is a partnership of Fruit Hill Orchard and David and Linda Lay.

Marker-Miller Orchards Farm Market & Bakery, 3035 Cedar Creek Grade, Winchester, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Cucumbers, squash, zucchini, plums, damsons, nectarines, apples (Ginger Gold, Gala, Empire, and Honeycrisp), yellow peaches, tomatoes, and super sweet corn are available.

The bakery offers cakes, pies, cookies, cinnamon/rum buns, peach turnovers, apple turnovers and apple cider doughnuts. The market also sells fresh fudge, hand-dipped ice cream, strawberry slushes and cherry apple cider slushes.

Other items include cider, milk, fresh eggs, fruit wines, jams, jellies, salad dressings, local honey, a variety of syrups and no-sugar-added jarred goods.
