Frederick County’s fire marshal is investigating the cause of a fire that was discovered in apartment No. 3 at the former White Hall School building in the 3300 block of Apple Pie Ridge Road on Monday. Captain Keith Jenkins, incident commander with the Frederick County Fire and Rescue, said a maintenance worker discovered the blaze in the living room when he entered the empty apartment about 4:40 p.m. Monday. Jenkins estimated the damage at about $1,000, mainly to the contents. Tenants in the other three apartments were not displaced due to the fire, Jenkins said. He did not know who owned the building. Units from Clear Brook, Gainesboro, Round Hill, and Reynolds Store volunteer Fire and Rescue companies were on the scene about one hour. A truck from South Berkeley County assisted.
