The Winchester Star

Back Creek flows through John Venskoske’s farm on its way to the Potomac River. The conservation easement he has placed on his land helps ensure that the creek will continue to flow through farmland into the future.
This view from the Half Moon tract shows the natural skyline that the easement is designed to protect. The neighboring George Washington-Jefferson National Forest was set up to ensure that the sources of streams flowing into the Shenandoah River remain unpolluted for use by downstream dwellers.
