Jim Bogaty (left), owner of Veramar Vinyards; Del. Randy Minchew, R-Leesburg; Diane Bechamps, vice president of Marketing for Virginia Tourism Corporation, Sen. Jill Vogel, R-Upperville; and Todd Haymore, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, stand by after unveiling the Shenandoah American Vinticultural Area sign Wednesday morning at Veramar Vinyard east of Berryville. Signs have been placed at key Virginia AVA region entry points throughout the year as part of an initiative to highlight Virginia’s vineyards. Virginia ranks fifth in the nation in number of wineries and for wine grape production, and was recently named one of the 10 best wine travel destinations for 2102 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Veramar is one of two local wineries. The other is Valerie Hill in Frederick County. (Photo by Scott Mason/The Winchester Star)
