WINCHESTER — A Boyce man was arrested Friday for allegedly choking a woman.

William Ernest Wilson Jr., 52, of the 2100 block of Salem Church Road, is facing a charge of strangulation, according to Winchester Police Department spokesman Lauren Cummings.

On Sept. 17, officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of National Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. for reports of an assault. The victim told police that Wilson had grabbed her throat and was choking her.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Winchester General District Court, the victim said Wilson came over to retrieve a jacket that belonged to him, and when she told him he couldn’t stay over, he became agitated.

The complaint states that Wilson shoved the victim before grabbing her around the throat and choking her “for some time.”

The victim told police she was afraid he wouldn’t stop and that she couldn’t breathe.

Officers noted in the criminal complaint that the victim’s neck appeared red and swollen and that she had a mark on her arm from where she fell after Wilson shoved her.

Wilson appeared Monday morning in Winchester General District Court via video and was given a $15,000 bond.

On Monday afternoon, he remained at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.
