KERNSTOWN — A Shenandoah County man is being held without bond after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend’s relative.

Marcus A. Kibler, 22, of Maurertown, is charged with assault and battery and driving on a revoked license.

According to Capt. John Heflin of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses called 911 after seeing Kibler and another man fighting in a vehicle at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Kernstown Commons Boulevard and Valley Pike (U.S. 11).

Deputies arrived at the scene and found that both men had minor injuries. They appeared to have been fighting over a property issue, Heflin said.

Kibler, who had injuries to his face, was taken to Winchester Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The other man did not seek medical treatment, according to Heflin.

Kibler was arrested for the two charges after he was released from the hospital. He is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.
