WINCHESTER — A local man was taken to the hospital Monday for non-life-threatening stab wounds after an altercation with an acquaintance.

Frederick County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 2:45 p.m. to the 1100 block of North Frederick Pike (U.S. 522), near Sunnyside.

According to Capt. John Heflin, the victim — a 22-year-old resident whose name was not released — sustained two stab wounds, one to one of his arms and the other to his abdomen.

The victim was driven to Winchester Medical Center by a relative, he added.

As of Monday evening, the suspect had not been caught.

Heflin said investigators are following up on leads and interviewing witnesses.

He added that the two people who got into the altercation knew each other, but did not specify their relationship.

The case remains under investigation.
