Meetings set on attendance zones

Star staff report

The first of two parent information meetings on options for changing elementary school attendance zones in Frederick County will be held at 7 p.m. today at Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School, 329 Apple Pie Ridge Road.

The options being recommended by the Rezoning Committee will be reviewed at the meetings, and those in attendance will have an opportunity to comment.

School officials are working on revising elementary school attendance zones because of the future implementation of full-day kindergarten and the addition of new classrooms onto Redbud Run (six), Bass-Hoover (six), Evendale (five) and Stonewall (three) elementary schools.

The rezoning could affect Apple Pie Ridge, Armel, Evendale, Gainesboro, Greenwood Mill, Redbud Run and Stonewall — seven of the county’s 11 elementary schools.

A second parent meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at Evendale Elementary at 220 Rosa Lane.
