Members of SU football team debut new uniforms
The Shenandoah University football team unveiled its uniform sets for the upcoming season Thursday in front of the rotunda at Sarah’s Glen in the middle of campus. Modeling three of the Hornets’ possible 12 uniform combinations are (from left) senior free safety Byron Mitchell, sophomore defensive end Jake Payne, and senior cornerback Sean Blackman. Blue uniforms will be worn at home, white uniforms will be worn on the road, and the red uniforms are an alternate choice. SU also has the option of wearing white, blue, gray and red pants. The red pants are making their debut this season, creating a potential combination that is Mitchell’s new favorite.“I like the red-on-red combination,” he said. “It’s amazing. They look great; they’re bright. It’s something that’s kind of screaming at you, you know. I think it’s going to be something for fans to enjoy this year. And I think if you look good, you play good.” The Hornets’ season opener is at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7 at home against Gallaudet. (Photo by Jeff Taylor/The Winchester Star)
