MIDDLETOWN — Treasurer Sharon K. Fadely, who has worked for the town in various positions since 2007, is stepping down.

Mayor Charles H. Harbaugh IV said Wednesday afternoon that Fadely is taking a similar job with a better salary in Mount Jackson. Fadely will leave for her new job in mid-September.

U.S. Census figures from 2010 indicate that Mount Jackson, which is in Shenandoah County, had a population of 1,994 compared to Middletown’s 1,265.

Harbaugh said Middletown will search for someone with banking and accounting experience to fill Fadely’s position, since the treasurer handles the town’s finances.

The salary range will be from $30,000 to $40,000 and includes Virginia Municipal League benefits, he added.

Middletown has been advertising for the position in local media, and Harbaugh posted the openings on the town’s Facebook page Tuesday.

The town also is looking to hire a full-time worker for its maintenance department. Currently, the department has five full-time employees and one part-time employee, according to Harbaugh.

The starting wage for the maintenance position is about $11 per hour.

Anyone interested in applying for either position can pick up an application at the Middletown Town Office at 7875 Church St.
