More area farmers markets are opening for spring season

Winchester — The following local farmers markets are open:

Apple Tree Market, 2454 Northwestern Pike, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The market offers flowers, vegetables, Trickling Springs dairy products, local eggs, local beef, sausage, country ham, honey, homemade fudge, baked goods, seasonal candies, jams and jellies, pickles and relishes and Greenberry’s coffee. Also: local Olivers Acres Family Farm goat milk soaps and body butters.

A line of dog products, including raw items, benefits local dog rescue work. Contact 540-667-8754.

Freight Station Farmers Market, 315 W. Boscawen St. in Winchester, is open year-round with fresh, local produce, meats and plants. The hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Masters Touch returns to the market Tuesdays with herb plants, perennials, vegetable transplants, ornamental and vegetable planters and exotics.

Kale, spinach, green onions and multiple varieties of greens are being picked weekly by vendors. Other local produce includes sweet potatoes, potatoes, apples, onions and turnips. Baked goods, artisan soap, honey, preserves, unpasteurized apple cider, fruit juices and eggs are featured weekly. Grass- fed beef, pork and lamb are available. The market also sells wild- caught Alaskan fish, obtained from commercial fishermen in Alaska.

Participating vendors include Mayfair Farm, Stoney Lane Farm, Masters Touch, LizSoaps, Merrymoon Farm and Shepherds Whey Creamery.

Holy Cow, 9280 John Marshall Highway (Va. 55), Lebanon Church, is open year-round. Items may be picked up there or orders may be placed for delivery — apples, fresh pasteurized milk, chocolate milk, yogurt, yogurt drinks, homemade butter, lamb, beef, pork, bread, cupcakes, jams, apple butter, eggs and cheese. Linda’s Mercantile, 2502 North Frederick Pike (U.S. 522), is a partnership of Fruit Hill Orchard and David and Linda Lay.

Mount Airy Farm Market, 8204 John Mosby Highway, Boyce, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The market offers fresh local meats, grain finished and grass fed beef, pork, lamb and goat, as well as local jams, jellies, salsas and honey. NB Market, 5057 Northwestern Pike, Gore, is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Shawnee Springs Market, 6656 North Frederick Pike, is open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Shen-Val Farm Market, 2180 Fairfax Pike, White Post, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday to Sunday.

West Oaks Farm Market, 1105 Cedar Creek Grade, Winchester, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
