WINCHESTER — A Frederick County man was denied bond Tuesday on a single charge of possession of child pornography after deputies found a home video at his residence last week.

Michael Beeman, 60, of the 100 block of Thompson Court — off Canyon Road, near Greenwood Mill Elementary School — appeared in Frederick County General District Court for a bond hearing.

Frederick County Commonwealth’s Attorney Ross Spicer was also at the hearing and asked that Beeman be held without bond, which Judge David S. Whitacre granted. He remains at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Jan. 14 at Beeman’s residence and found a video titled “High 8 video tape.”

The contents depicted Beeman and a child under the age of 18 “engaged in sexual acts.”

The criminal complaint does not specify the age of the child in the video or if the child is a local resident.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the search warrant had not been filed in Frederick County Circuit Court.

Beeman is expected back in Frederick County General District Court at 2 p.m. March 18.
