BREAKING NEWS: The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported stabbing this morning. A man called 9-11 and reported that he had been robbed and stabbed and then dropped off at Carpers Valley Road.

WEATHER: It's currently 43 degrees at noon in Winchester. Rain  until 4 p.m. today. High near 47.  Mostly clear tonight, with a low around 26.  Mostly sunny Wednesday, with a high near 36. Breezy, with gusts as high as 34 mph.


STOCKS: Talk of more mergers and acquisitions (retailers Office Depot and OfficeMax are discussing a combination)  is sending stock prices higher in early trading, setting the market up to continue a seven-week rally.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 54 points at 14,035 at midday Tuesday.

The S&P 500 was up eight points at 1,527.

The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index was up 12 points at 3,203.

TWO SETS OF TWINS: Is it double trouble or double delight? A Texas woman has delivered two sets of identical twin boys.
The Houston Chronicle reports Tressa Montalvo delivered her sons on Thursday — Valentine's Day — at The Woman's Hospital of Texas.
It says the odds of giving such a birth naturally are one in 70 million.
The 36-year-old Montalvo delivered sons Ace and Blaine at 8:51 a.m. Ace weighed 3 pounds, 10 ounces, and Blaine weighed in at 3 pounds, 15 ounces. Sons Cash and Dylan arrived a minute later — Cash at 2 pounds, 15 ounces, and Dylan at 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
