A black-bellied whistling duck has flown in for a visit at Hedgebrook Farm on Shady Elm Road in Frederick County. The waterfowl is mostly found in Central and South America but its numbers are increasing in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Arizona. Some tend to stray northward like this one. It flew to farm at the end of last week and according to Kitty Nicholas, whose family owns the farm, it is still there. (Photo by Ginger Perry/The Winchester Star)
