Papillons — from the French word for “butterfly” — are shown Sunday morning at the Old Dominion Kennel Club of Northern Virginia Dog Show held at Historic Long Branch. According to Wikipedia, a papillon — which is also called a Continental Toy Spaniel — is one of the oldest of the toy spaniels. It derives its name from its characteristic butterfly-like look of the long and fringed hair on the ears. (Photo by Scott Mason/The Winchester Star)
