Police: Patient punches nurse
WINCHESTER — A nurse sustained “significant facial injuries” on Thursday when she was punched by a patient at Winchester Medical Center, city police said.
Officers were called to the hospital at about 1:30 p.m. for an assault report, according to Lauren Cummings, city police spokeswoman.
A hospital security officer told police that a patient, Stanley Ausberry, 60, of Winchester, had punched a female nurse.
When officers approached Ausberry, he was aggressive, according to Cummings. “While he was being detained. he continued to resist and kicked an officer in the chest.”
Ausberry was served with warrants for one count of malicious wounding and two counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Cummings said he was not arrested because he was seeking treatment at the hospital.
The reason for his treatment request is unclear.
The nurse, who was not identified, sought medical treatment.
