Holly Kable (left), a guidance councilor at Adm. Richard E. Byrd Middle School, ruffles the feathers on the turkey costume she made for Edward Hillyard, a seventh-grade history teacher at the school. The school held a fundraiser to support the Salvation Army. Teachers were nominated by their peers to be the turkey of the year. Then the top 10 teachers were then voted on by the students. During the week of Nov. 9-16, students could vote for 25 cents or get one vote for each canned food item they brought in to school. Hillyard received the most votes and had to wear the turkey costume all day on Tuesday. The school raised $300 and collected 200 food items, which they gave to The Salvation Army.
