Bethel Lutheran

Bethel Lutheran Church, 2077 North Frederick Pike, will host a Christian concert as part of the ELCA’s 100 Wells Tour ( at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The concert will include AGAPE (Dave Scherer and Rachel Kurtz).

Greenwood UMC

Members of the Greenwood United Methodist Church will Christmas carol from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Orrick Commons and Country Park Shopping Plaza.

Anyone may join the group at 12:30 p.m. at the church at 726 Greenwood Road.

Marvin Chapel

Marvin Chapel Church members will Christmas carol from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15 on a hayride around the town of Berryville.

Stephens City Mennonite

Stephens City Mennonite Church will host a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

The Christmas story will be presented by children and adults with a carol sing. The service will conclude with a candle lighting. A fellowship time will follow in the church hall.

Mount Carmel Baptist

Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 1317 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, will have a Christmas tea fellowship from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

A youth Christmas play will be presented at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Diann Jacox will share her inspirational career journey as a park ranger.

Opequon Presbyterian

A Service of Healing and Wholeness will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Memorial Sanctuary of Opequon Presbyterian Church, Winchester.

This will be a time of prayer, scripture reading, reflective music and remembrance.

Berryville Baptist

Berryville Baptist Church, 114 Academy St., will have a program by the sanctuary choir, the handbell choir and the children's chime choir at 11 a.m. Dec. 16.

A children’s Christmas program. will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 with puppets and Christmas songs, and children will re-enact the nativity scene. Refreshments follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Shepherd of the Hills

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 in the Hampton Inn’s Washington Room at 1204 Berryville Ave.

Refuge UMC

Advent Lutheran Church

A special visitor will come to Advent Lutheran Church, 1508 Valley Ave., Winchester, at 7 p.m. Dec. 14.

The visitor is the innkeeper of Bethlehem where Mary and Joseph were looking for a room to prepare for the birth of Jesus.

Noel Vold, pastor, will portray the innkeeper. He does first person presentations of various Bible characters in costume as part of his ministry.

A reception will follow the presentation.

Gravel Springs Lutheran

Gravel Springs Lutheran Church will have a children’s Christmas program at 6 p.m. Dec 23. Light refreshments will follow.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service with Holy Communion will be held at 8 p.m. Dec. 24.

St. John’s Lutheran

St John’s Lutheran Church will have “Mocha and a Message” at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 with contemporary gospel music along with coffee and light refreshments. A freewill offering will be taken.

A Christmas Eve Candlelight service and a children’s program with Holy Communion will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Mountain View UMC

Mountain View United Methodist Church at Mount Falls will have a Christmas cantata and program at 4 p.m. Dec. 23 at the church. A covered-dish dinner will follow at the Back Creek Ruritan Building.

Child Evangelism Fellowship  and Valley Bible Church

A Good News Club, sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship and Valley Bible Church, meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. the third Tuesday in the cafeteria of Middletown Elementary School.

Stephens City UMC

Stephens City United Methodist Church, 5291 Main St., Stephens City, will have a Christmas benefit program, “How Great Our Joy,” at 7 p.m. today with the Robert E. Aylor Middle School Select Chorus, Apple Valley Ringers, SCUMC Ensemble, Symphony of the Valley, Brass (including James Wood High School members) and Percussion.

Proceeds will benefit the music programs of the participants.

On Sunday, worship service Preludes begin at 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. with the Congregation, SCUMC Chancel Choir/Ensemble, Bells, SOV, Brass and Percussion singing carols sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and G.F. Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”

Weekday Religious Education

Virginia Weekday Religious Education conducts weekly 30-minute Bible classes for fourth- and fifth-grade students of Frederick County.

Bible Study Fellowship

Bible Study Fellowship will host the 2012-13 study of Genesis.

The Rev. Richard O’Connell Reed and Matushka Carol are establishing the Holy Family Orthodox Church in the Northern Shenandoah Valley around Woodstock.
