Society for Life

The local chapter of the Virginia Society for Life is sponsoring Life Chain at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in Winchester.

All churches may attend and pray for God’s intervention to end abortion.

Participants will gather on Pleasant Valley Road from Cork Sreet to Millwood Avenue.

Christ Church

A blessing of the animals will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 6 at Christ Church, 809 Bishop Meade Road, Millwood. Call 540-837-1112.

Mount Carmel Baptist

Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 1317 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, will have a Missionary Moment Sunday at the 10 a.m. service with video presentation for the kickoff of the monthlong Missionary Blanket Drive, which begins Tuesday.

United Methodist district

The Winchester District of the United Methodist Church presents Change the World Mission Event from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Clarke County Fairgrounds near Berryville with music and fellowship from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Participants are to bring picnic lunch, which will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Chestnut Grove

Chestnut Grove Cemetery will have a picnic from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at the cemetery next to the Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 140 Light Road, Frederick County.

Winchester Seventh-day Adventist

Winchester Seventh-day Adventist, 1508 Valley Ave., Winchester, will change worship time Oct. 5 — Sabbath school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11:15 a.m.

The pastor, Wayne Spangenberg, will conduct an early morning service in Front Royal each week. He will be in Winchester the first and third Sabbaths and in Strasburg the second and fourth.

A theology student from Columbia Union College in Washington, D.C., will present the message once a month with others filling in.

Saint Luke Baptist

The women of Saint Luke Baptist Church, 17 Liberty St., Berryville, will have Missionary Sunday at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest preacher is the Rev. James Jones.

The annual fall revival will be held from Wednesday to Oct. 4. The Rev. Thomas Cunningham, pastor of Hear The Word Bible Church, Bowie, Md. will be the guest evangelist. Call 540-955-1883.

Ebenezer Christian

Ebenezer Christian Church, 2158 Ebenezer Church Road, Gore, will have a cemetery meeting Oct. 6, following the 11a.m. worship service. Contact 540-877-1380.

Fellowship Bible

Fellowship Bible Church, 3217 Middle Road, Winchester, will host Nashville-based Matthew Smith and Indelible Grace at 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

Visit fbcva.org/concert to reserve free tickets. A freewill offering will be collected at the concert.

Smith and his band will play hymns from their new album, “Watch The Rising Day.”

Shiloh Baptist

Shiloh Baptist Church, 522 N. Kent St., Winchester, will have a program at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hampton Inn, 1204 Berryville Ave., Winchester. The Rev. Jerome H. Lewis from The Love of Christ Church in Woodbridge will be the guest along with his congregation and The Holy Dancer.

It is free, but a freewill offering will be taken to benefit the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund.

Zion Baptist

Zion Baptist Church, 10 Josephine St., Berryville, will host Sister Cheryl Pettus at 11 a.m. Sunday for her initial sermon.

Timber Ridge Pentecostal

Mount Pleasant/Lamps

The Mount Pleasant/Lamps Church, 1800 Wardensville Grade, will hold a dedication ceremony to honor Virgil Austin for the numerous paintings he has done for the Fellowship Hall of the church.

The dedication will be held Sunday following the 11 a.m. worship service.

Weekday Religious Education

Virginia Weekday Religious Education hosts fourth- and fifth-grade students in Frederick County for weekly 30-minute Bible classes.

Classes are held off school campuses on the WRE bus.

Gravel Springs Lutheran

Gravel Springs Lutheran Church, 1870 S. Pifer Road, Star Tannery, will have a Blessing of the Animals at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the outside pavilion. Pets welcome.

The church will collect donations for the SPCA.

Greenwood Baptist

Greenwood Baptist Church, 779 Greenwood Road, Winchester, will host a Faith Promise Missions Conference at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.

Pray Winchester

Pray Winchester meets from 8 to 9 a.m. Fridays in the recreation room of the War Memorial Building at Barnett Park, Winchester.

A weekly women’s Bible study on the book of Matthew is held at Calvary Baptist Church, 844 Amherst St., Winchester. Programs are available for school-age children.

Winchester  Seventh-day Adventist

“His Helping Hands,” sponsored by the Winchester Seventh-day Adventist Church, meets from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays at 156 Lambden Ave.

The mission is to give back to the community by knitting, crocheting or sewing items to be donated to patients in hospitals and nursing homes. A light lunch will be served. It is open to the public. Call 540-722-4272.
