Softball All-Area First Team

Kierstyn Peacoe — James Wood — Junior — Pitcher

Earning first team All-Northwestern District honors, Peacoe went 8-8 with a 2.07 earned-run average. She led the Colonels with 104 strikeouts in 941/3 innings. She also hit .347 with 15 runs scored, 11 RBIs and a team-best 11 stolen bases.

Courtney Reid — Sherando — Senior — Pitcher

A first team All-Northwestern District selection, Reid led Sherando with an 11-9 record and a 2.17 ERA. She struck out 99 in 1221/3 innings. She also hit .397 with a team-high 24 RBIs and tied for the team-high with seven doubles.

Sarah Herndon — Clarke County — Senior — Pitcher

Even though she missed the first six games with an injury to her non-throwing hand, Herndon earned first team All-Region B and Bull Run District honors. She led the area in wins, ERA and strikeouts, going 14-3 with 1.40 ERA with 136 strikeouts in 1042/3 innings. She will play at Concord next year.

Jessy Shipman — James Wood — Junior — Catcher

Earning first team All-Northwestern District honors, Shipman ranked second on her team hitting .370. She led the team with seven doubles, tied for the lead with 15 runs and tied for second with 11 RBIs.

Sarah Clark — Millbrook — Sophomore — Infielder

A power-hitting threat in the middle of the Pioneers’ batting order, Clark led her team with a .382 batting average with a team-best four home runs (two in a win over Handley in the district tourney), eight doubles and 17 RBIs.

Becky Smith — Clarke — Senior — Infielder

Part of a Clarke’s senior class that helped the Eagles go 52-9 over the past two years, Smith hit .403 with 21 runs and 20 RBIs and ranked second on the team with 15 stolen bases.

Charlotte Viands — James Wood — Senior — Infielder

A first team All-Northwestern District selection, Viands batted .308 with one home run and a team-high 13 RBIs. She also scored 10 runs and had a pair of doubles, helping the Colonels win the district tournament title.

Helen Good — Clarke — Senior — Infielder

Earning first team All-Bull Run District honors, Good batted .397 with eight doubles, two home runs and 17 runs. She ranked second on the team with 26 RBIs, and was part of a senior class that won 72 games over four seasons.

Olivia Gore — Clarke — Senior — Outfielder

A first team All-Region B selection and the Bull Run District Player of the Year, Gore led the area hitting .544 (37 for 68) and she also had an area-best five home runs, 11 doubles and 33 RBIs. Gore, The Winchester Star’s Player of the Year, also ended her four-year varsity career with a team-record .505 batting average. She will play at West Virginia Wesleyan next year.

Megan Rion — Clarke — Senior — Outfielder

With an on-base percentage of .637, Rion was the perfect lead-off hitter for the Eagles. She hit .506 with a team-best 39 runs and 27 stolen bases. She also drove in 18 runs and tied with a team-high 13 walks, earning first team All-Bull Run District honors.

Katie Seymour — Sherando — Senior — Outfielder

A first team All-Northwestern District selection, Seymour led Sherando (and ranked second in the area) batting .529. She scored a team-high 24 runs, and ranked second for Sherando with 18 RBIs. She also had six doubles and six stolen bases.

Rachael Largent — James Wood — Senior — Utility

Earning first team All-Northwestern District honors, Largent led James Wood batting .375 (24 for 64). She had three doubles, two triples and nine RBIs, helping the Colonels cap their season with a 7-0 win over Skyline for the district tournament title.
