Emily Reed, a senior at Mercyhurst University, has been named to the dean’s list. She is a native of Winchester.

James Madison University's orientation team assists incoming first-year students in their academic, personal and social transition and serve as a representative of JMU. Area team members include Samantha Huse of Winchester and Jodie Knott of Star Tannery.

The following area students are members of the 2013 James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes: Tyler Bailey of Winchester in the trumpet section, Katie Barnhill of Berryville in the flute/piccolo section, Richard Bonnett of Winchester in the tuba section, Claire Haskins of Middletown in the flute/piccolo section, Brandon Hutchinson of Berryville in the clarinet section, Liza Inaba of Winchester in the flute/piccolo section, Julia Johnston of Berryville in the trumpet section, Tim Kaetzel of Middletown in the percussion-snare section, Molly Knudsen of Stephens City in the trumpet section, Amanda Pennypacker of Winchester in the mellophone section, Eric Peterson of Winchester in the guard section, Chris Seipp of Winchester in the tuba-electric bass section, Samantha Stephenson of Stephens City in the guard section, Clara Thiel of Bluemont in the flute/piccolo section, Sidney Wilkins of Berryville in the sax-alto section, and Mikaila Williamsof Stephens City in the mellophone section.
