CLEAR BROOK — No one was injured when a teenage driver attempted to use a crossover on Interstate 81 Saturday and lost control, striking another car.

The crash occurred at 10:45 a.m., according to Sgt. F.L. Tyler of the Virginia Sate Police.

A 2012 Dodge Journey SUV, operated by a 16-year-old female, was headed north on the interstate, just past the Clear Brook exit, when the driver attempted to turn into a crossover to get into the southbound lane.

Tyler said the teen missed the crossover and drove across the median, striking a southbound 2006 Toyota Camry driven by a William Fleming Jr., 79, of Sebring, Fla.

Neither driver, nor the female passenger in Fleming’s vehicle, were injured, Tyler said.

State Trooper T.H. Seagle, who investigated the crash, charged the teen with reckless driving.

The crash shut down the left southbound lane of I-81 for about 45 minutes
