Peggy Tincher of Winchester stops at one of the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday in the First Presbyterian Church sanctuary on the Loudoun Street Mall. The Stations of the Cross — or Way of the Cross, as it’s sometimes call — is a series of artistic representations, very often sculptural, depicting Christ carrying the cross to his crucifixion in the final hours before He died, and the devotions using that series to commemorate Christ’s final hours, often moving physically around a set of stations.
