STEPHENS CITY — Police arrested a town resident Wednesday morning after she allegedly tried to take another woman’s children from her vehicle.

Jennifer Marie Holborn, 33, of Plymouth Street, is charged with two counts of abduction and three counts of assault and battery, according to a news release from the Stephens City Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at about 8:15 a.m. to Plymouth Street — near its intersection with Main Street on the town’s north end — for a possible fight.

When they arrived, officers found that Holborn had allegedly assaulted another town resident and attempted to abduct her children — ages 2 and 6.

Officer R.A. Fox Jr. said that the two women did not know each other. He added that Holborn first took the children, but before she could get them into her own vehicle, appeared to let them go.

Holborn is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Frederick County without bond, according to the release.
