WINCHESTER — Frederick County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a Thursday morning report of a theft outside a local drug store.

According to Lt. Donnie Lang, deputies responded just before 9 a.m. to the Walgreens at 131 Valley Mill Road — just east of the city — after a woman reported that two men in a vehicle stole money from her in the parking lot.

The 35-year-old Frederick County woman said that while she was walking to the business, two men in a dark-colored, four-door sedan — she said it was an older-model vehicle — called her over.

The victim, who had $50 cash in her hand according to Lang, went to see what the men wanted. When she got to the passenger-side window of the vehicle, one of the men in the car took her money and then told her to back away.

The men, described as being white and 18 to 20 years of age, then drove off.

Lang said no weapons were displayed and no one was injured in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Solvers at 540-665-8477.
