FOREST — Shenandoah University is selected ninth and 10th in ODAC pre-season tennis poll results released Thursday afternoon by the conference office.

The Shenandoah men are picked ninth out of 11 teams in the men’s poll while the SU women are 10th of 12.

Points are awarded on a 1-10 basis in men and a 1-11 basis in women with coaches unable to vote for their own teams in the respective polls.

The SU men have 25 points in their poll to come in two points clear of 10th place Randolph and eight points in front of Lynchburg.

The Hornet women, already 1-0 on the season after a 5-4 victory over DII Shippensburg Saturday night, have 31 points in their poll to trail ninth place Emory and Henry by just five points.

Washington and Lee, the defending champion in both men's and women's tennis, was the unanimous selection in both polls to win it again in 2013.

The Generals had 10 first place votes and 100 points on the men's side and 121 points on 11 first place votes in the women's race.

Bridgewater received the remaining first place vote for men and Virginia Wesleyan for women.

The Shenandoah tennis teams each return one player who has earned All-USA South accolades during their career.

Michael Milanov was an honorable mention honoree in 2010 and 2011 before taking last season off to concentrate on academics during his first year of graduate school.

Sophomore Shannon Allin, a double winner for SU this past Saturday night, was an honorable mention selection in 2012.

The Shenandoah men open up their 2013 season Saturday night with a 6 p.m. non-league match against Division II Shepherd. Like the women's match this past Saturday, this contest will be held indoors at Winchester Country Club.
