Sanzenbacher has been a member since 2010 and is in her second year as Ways and Means Committee chair. Through her leadership, Estelle led the club to a successful fundraiser — Fabulous Fashion Finds — raising more than $4,000. She also helped create the Blooming Scarf project held in conjunction with the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. She is employed as a career coach at Lord Fairfax Community College.

Winchester Democratic Committee

A pre-inaugural breakfast celebration will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Family Life Center in Winchester.

The guest speaker will be Virginia Sen. Mark Herring, a candidate for Virginia attorney general.

Former CEO Alan Wurtzel, author of “Good to Great to Gone,” the inside story of Circuit City’s dramatic rise and equally dramatic fall, will speak to the Rotary of Club of Winchester at noon Thursday at the Travelodge.

He’ll discuss lessons to use in business.

Northern Shenandoah  Valley Tea Party

Northern Shenandoah Valley Tea Party will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Camino Real Mexican Restaurant, 16 Crow St., Berryville.

There will be a discussion on practical home emergency management preparedness.

The topic for the meeting will be wealth creation and preservation in uncertain times.

Hoppers Auto Club

Hoppers Auto Club held it awards banquet.

Fred Cheshire was named the Walter Patterson Outstanding Member of the Year.

Other awards presented include the following: President’s Key Man Award, Denny Wingfield; Project Chairman Award, Fred Cheshire; perfect attendance, Tom Beavers, Fred Cheshire, Harold Ruckman, Denny Wingfield; Nonmember Workmanship Award, Marie Cheshire and Marie Clary; Activity Points Award, Eddy Strosnider, first, Harold Ruckman, second, and Rick Combs, third.

Special recognition was presented to Debbie and Danny Boyce as Relay for Life Car Show coordinators; Kym Hess, car shows, and Bailey Combs, Brady Combs and Lucy Hardman for fall car show.

Officers for 2013 are President Ted Morgan, Vice President Fred Cheshire, Secretary Eddy Strosnider, Treasurer Harold Ruckman, Sergeant-at-Arms Jim Young, and Board Members-at-Large Phil Lewis, Jay Myrick and Joe Patterson.

The club meets the first Thursday at the club’s shop on Old Bethel Church Road in Frederick County.

Glen Burnie Garden Club

Glen Burnie Garden Club will not meet in January.

The club met in December at the home of Susan Creasy for a Christmas luncheon. The exhibit of the day was “O Christmas Tree,” a decorated tree.

Awards were won by Phyllis Steele and Marsha Barley.

The club will meet Feb. 21.

Apple Valley Squares

The Apple Valley Squares offer beginner level modern western square dancing lessons from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at the UAW Building, 2625 Papermill Road, Winchester.

Dance Club Shenandoah

Dance Club Shenandoah will hold a dance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the North Warren Fire Hall, 266 Rockland Court, Front Royal. The swing band Eclectic Coalition will play.

This is a members-only organization that holds monthly dances with live bands.

Winchester Wheelmen will have the following rides:

Thursday night road ride at White Post — This ride is a go unless there is rain or snow. Ride starts from White Post Restorations at 6 p.m. Average speed is 15 ot 17mph. Buck Hefner is leading. White front light and red rear flashing light are required.

Andy Guest Shenandoah River State Park casual MTB Ride, Bentonville — Easy to moderate ride. Meet at the parking lot for the Massanutten Shelter Parking Area for an 11 a.m. Saturday start. Entry fee is required $4; season pass is available. No ride leader.
