‘Henry IV Part 1’
Shenandoah University’s production of William Shakespeare’s “Henry IV Part 1,” opens today and runs through Sunday in the Glaize Studio Theatre. Performances are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $9 for seniors.

Evening of Shakespeare
Shenandoah Conservatory students will perform “An Evening of Shakespeare and Love” Friday at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St. Tickets are $5 and include gallery admission.

Parents Night Out
Winchester Parks and Rec will offer its bi-annual Parents Night Out from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the War Memorial Building in Jim Barnett Park. Cost is $15 for one child and $10 for each additional child ages 4 to 12 and includes dinner and activities.

Valentine’s sockhop
The Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville, will have a Valentine’s Weekend Sockhop with Mike and The Cyclones at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

CLEAN benefit
Scarpa Alta, shoe boutique, 10 S. Loudoun St., Winchester will have a benefit for CLEAN from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.
A portion of the sales will be donated to the nonprofit that works to promote a safe, healthy, drug-free community.
Chili dinner
The Henry & William Evans Home will have its 15th annual chili dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday in the Braddock Street United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Celebrity waiters will serve diners.
Advance tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for 12 and under. Tickets at the door are $1 more. Tickets are on sale at Bell’s Fine Clothing, Red Fox Creamery, Gaunt’s Drug Store, Grove’s Harley Davidson and the Evans Home office.
A Little Noon Music
The Friends of Handley Regional Library will present The Wise Maids for A Little Noon Music concert at 12:15 p.m. Friday in the Handley Library auditorium.
This group consists of Deirdre Cochran, Germaine Connolly, Sandy Lore, and Mary Mayhew.

MSV Day
MSV Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, 901 Amherst St. Admission is free and includes gallery entry, children’s activities, and music.

‘Spoken Soul’
Ray Crawford Jr. will perform a poetry and spoken word show, “Spoken Soul,” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Shenandoah Arts Council 811 S. Loudoun St. The event is free and open to the public. Call 540-667-5166.
John Kirby Jazz Fest
The Coalition for Racial Unity will mark Black History Month with its annual John Kirby Jazz Fest from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Piccadilly’s Public House, 125 E. Piccadilly St.
The event will feature music by the Shenandoah Conservatory Jazz Sextet and SV Jazz. Tickets are $20 per person.

Dramatic reading contest
The Josephine School Community Museum, 303 Josephine St., Berryville will offer its annual Black History Month dramatic reading contest at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The free event will have second- to fifth-graders offer prepared readings of poetry, short stories, or other literature written by or about African-Americans.

Chicken-n-dumplin’ lunch
Stepping Stones Relay for Life Team will have a chicken-n-dumplin’ and chili luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday a Boyce Fire Hall. A freewill offering will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Community fellowship dinner
Kernstown United Methodist Church, 3239 Valley Pike, will have a community fellowship dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A freewill offering will be taken.

Tax-Aide
AARP Tax-Aide will offer free tax preparation Saturday at the senior center in Chet Hobert Park, 225 Al Smith Circle, Berryville. Sign-in runs from10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is on a first come, first-served basis.
Barns, wildlife center fundraiser
Where’s Aubrey will perform for a fundraiser for the Blue Ridge Wildlife Center and the Barns of Rose Hill Saturday at the Barns, 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Country dance series
The Bluemont Country Dance series continues with an event at 8 p.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Old Stone School, 37098 Charles Town Pike, Hillsboro. A beginners workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. This month’s band is Trio Tympanon. The cost is $10 per person and $7 for seniors, students, and Bluemont members.

Movie showing
Magic Lantern Theater will show “Safety Not Guaranteed” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Handley Library auditorium and at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers St., Berryville.
The Handley showing is free and open to the public. Donations accepted. The Barns showing is $5 and refreshments will be sold.
Three cynical Seattle reporters investigate an unusual classified ad and discover Kenneth, a mysterious eccentric, who claims to have solved the riddle of time travel. It is rated R and runs for an hour and 26 minutes.
Wayside Theatre fundraiser
A Suzuki Violin Play-In fundraiser for Wayside Theatre will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Espresso Bar & Café, 165 N. Loudoun St., Winchester.
Violin students will play their Suzuki repertoire, fiddle tunes, and other selections. Proceeds will benefit Wayside Theatre.
Pancake breakfast
A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Little Mountain United Methodist Church off Cedar Grove Road in Frederick County.

Sea Chanters change of venue
The performance of the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters has a change of venue to the Patsy Cline Theatre in John Handley High School, 425 Handley Blvd. The event begins at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. It is free and open to the public.
Monday
Spaghetti dinner
A spaghetti dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Hayfield.
Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children for dine-in or take-out meals. Proceeds benefit the children’s church.
Tuesday
Pipe Organ Concert Series
Susan Foster, organist at Home Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, N.C. will perform at noon Tuesday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester.
It is part of the Madeline Riley Lenten Pipe Organ Concert Series. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the American Guild of Organists Convention Region 3 which will be held July 7 to 10 in Winchester.

Black History lecture
Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown will offer “African Americans and Modern Jazz,” a free presentation by faculty member Curtis Morgan, at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Fairfax Hall room 315 as part of the college’s Black History Month lecture series.

‘Interculturality’
The Shenandoah Arts Council is celebrating Black History Month with “Interculturality,” an exhibit featuring three female African-American artists. The free exhibit runs through Feb. 27 at the gallery at 811 S. Loudoun St. Call 540-667-5166.
Art exhibit
Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, is displaying an exhibit of artwork by resident Fred Zimmer through April 6 in the Lawrence Gallery.
Garden in the Valley
Registration is continuing for the Garden in the Valley symposium, sponsored by the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association.
Cost for the daylong event from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16 at Shenandoah University is $45 and includes lunch.
Topics for the day include mow-free lawns; veggies, best varieties and practices for this area; incorporating edible landscaping, and what’s new in plants for 2013.

Wayside production
Wayside Theatre’s production of “Smoke on the Mountain: Homecoming” continues through March 17 at the playhouse in Middletown.
The theater is experiencing financial difficulties and this could be the last production. Call 540-869-1776.
Barns exhibit
The Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court, Berryville, exhibit, “The John Leone Retrospective,” will run through Saturday.

The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley’s Art in the Halls program features the artwork of Michael Timothy Davis of Shepherdstown, W.Va., through April 7.
