Farmers markets offer apples, fall products

Alamo Market, Papermill Road and Shawnee Drive in Winchester, is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is closed Thursday.
The market has apples, tomatoes, a variety of winter squash, as well as meats, eggs, dairy products, mums, hanging baskets, mulch, topsoil and a variety of pumpkins.
Children can mine for fossils, gems, minerals and arrowheads at the mining sluice. Groups welcome.
Apple Tree Market, 2454 Northwestern Pike, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The market offers fresh seasonal produce, mums, hanging baskets, winter squash, pumpkins, gourds, cooking pumpkins, Rinker’s cider, local eggs, dairy products, homemade fudge, baked goods, jams and jellies, pickles, salsas, Greenberry’s coffee and local beef and handmade soap and crafts made by local artists. The Barefoot Farmer, Scott Whitacre, is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday through December on the Loudoun Street Mall in Winchester and offers vegetables, fruits and plants.
Clarke County Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays on the town parking lot off Church Street in Berryville.

Freight Station Farmers Market, 315 W. Boscawen St. in Winchester, is a producers-only market. It is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
Seasonal fruits and vegetables including tomatoes, plums, pears, apples, green and bird-egg beans, peppers, potatoes, eggplant, cabbage, greens and red raspberries are available.
Other products include Alaskan fish, grass-fed beef, apple cider, honey, mushrooms, eggs, plants, preserves and dairy products.
