James Wood student dies in single-vehicle crash

CAPON BRIDGE — A James Wood High School senior has died following a single-vehicle crash in Hampshire County, W.Va., this afternoon.

Hunter Crane, 18, of Whitacre, was traveling north on Smokey Hollow Road near Capon Bridge, W.Va., when he exited the west roadway edge and struck a utility pole, according to a West Virginia State Police media release.

The vehicle rolled several times following the impact and came to a rest after striking a tree.

Crane was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unclear what caused the crash, and the incident still is under investigation by Senior Trooper Carson of the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment.
