Kids Voting says ‘Thank you’

Nearly 6,000 students in Winchester and Frederick County participated in the annual Kids Voting election on Election Day.

Kids Voting is a nonpartisan organization which works to prepare young people to become lifelong, educated, and engaged voters. Over the last three election cycles, more than 12,000 students have participated in Kids Voting elections in Winchester and Frederick County.

The Kids Voting program would not be successful without the outstanding support provided by Winchester City Schools, Frederick County Public Schools, the Winchester and Frederick County voter registrars, and teachers, volunteers and precinct sponsors.

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to work at the Kids Voting polls on Election Day. A special thanks goes out to the many students who worked at the polls so that other students could have the opportunity to participate.

I also want to thank the precinct sponsors whose financial contributions make the Kids Voting election possible.

The enthusiasm of students at the Kids Voting polls, coupled with volunteers who were eager to assist, was certainly inspiring. I look forward to many more successful Kids Voting elections. Our community is fortunate to have the support of so many individuals and businesses who support students simulating the electoral process through Kids Voting.
