Biden the bully a total ‘turnoff’

I watched the vice-presidential political debate Thursday night and came away embarrassed by the performance of Vice President Joe Biden. His snears, grins, putdowns as well as attempts at bullying were a complete turnoff.

It was particularly annoying because our public schools are trying so hard to stop bullying and putdowns in classrooms. But now we know where bullying comes from — our supposed leaders.

As far as bullying is concerned, you have met the enemy and they are our (?) “leaders.”

Sees congestion in the offing

I was born and lived in Winchester until my husband and I retired and moved to South Carolina. But we still have a small house in Winchester that we occupy in the winter so I feel as if I am and always will be a part of Winchester.

I have been following the controversy between the residents of Winchester and Shenandoah University through the E-Edition of The Star. I entirely agree that the stretch of Millwood Avenue that Shenandoah wants to close to the residents and use for themselves is ridiculous.

What is wrong with the City Council when they don’t take into account the feelings of the people who elected them? I am so proud of Liz Minor for voting against the proposal and for the other member of the council [Evan Clark] who also voted against it but whose name escapes me for the moment.

Why in the world would a traffic study of that section of road be done on a Tuesday? Why not on a Saturday in the middle of the day? I think we all know the reason why.

In any case, I believe there will be a major traffic problem coming down the hill on Millwood Pike from the intersection with Front Royal Pike and that those traveling west and possibly those traveling east will also see traffic jams and long waits at traffic lights.

My hope is that the Commonwealth Transportation Board votes against this, and that any resident of Winchester who may or not be a member of this board will refrain from voting on the proposal at all. I hope that all who oppose this will let their feelings be known to the CTB by a letter or some other form of contact.

Is that logo correct, or what?

In viewing most of the vice-presidential debate on TV Thursday night I came to a couple of conclusive opinions.

First was the fact that neither Vice President Biden nor Congressman Ryan actually won the debate. Martha Raddatz won!

But hang in there. I did notice that Mr. Ryan was the gentleman of the two candidates. While Mr. Biden was speaking, Mr. Ryan sat patiently while Mr. Biden ranted and raved and spoke “down” to the congressman. And when Mr. Ryan had the mike, Mr. Biden continued with his antics, and thinking his “jokes” were so funny that he could not stop laughing.

One thing positive was that the Democratic logo (a jackass) was correctly proven by Mr. Biden's actions! After an hour of the obnoxious shenanigans by Mr. Biden, I gave up and retired for the night. I know the lesser of two evils and will cast my ballot in their favor.
